“Black Smoke?” is a photo competition and exhibition being run this summer to raise awareness of and encourage thought about the impacts of coal use (be it mining or burning) in New Zealand.
The competition is open to all members of the public who may enter up to 2 photos (digital or film) or film footage of up to 5 minutes. The top entries will be selected for a Wellington exhibition in 2007
Entry Requirements
Images or footage entered must be your interpretation of the social, economic and/or environmental impacts of coal mining or burning in New Zealand. Creativity is encouraged!
Great prizes up for grabs!
Public viewers will then have the opportunity to view the exhibition and vote for their favourite photograph or piece of footage. The overall winners will receive some superb prize packs.

Entries Close- Friday 13th April 2007
Send your photo or footage in hard copy in the format that you want displayed.
1. Mount the photo yourself to suit your image
2. Send it to us and we will do a standard mount onto card backing.
Please include your name, address, phone number and e-mail address, along with the title of your piece, a short caption (200 words or less) and the category you are entering (digital or film).
If you would like your entry returned, please include a stamped, self-addressed envelope/packaging.
Copyright and all other rights remain that of the photographer. All entrants understand that any image submitted to the competition may be used by Gecko for purposes directly related to the Black Smoke competition and exhibition.
