The Google Zeitgeist page is always an interesting, although sometimes depressing, snapshot of what people are interested in / searching for.
This week the top ten search terms are
1. masters
2. pet food recall
3. good friday
4. wrestlemania 23
5. mlb extra innings
6. easter bunny
7. rose mcgowan
8. lauren conrad
9. keith richards
10. blades of glory
It also struck me that if you then use these words in your blog post at the beginning of the week, by the end of the week you will be attracting some of those people searching for information on the ‘pet food recall’ or ‘wrestlemania 23′. Of course I would never advocate pure cheating and the junk content that entails but nevertheless, if some of those words can be worked into the post you where going to write anyway … Keith Richards, the pet food recall and wrestlemania.
More about the Google Zeitgeist
From the Google website:
Pulling together interesting search trends and patterns requires Google’s human and computing power together. Search statistics are automatically generated based on the millions of searches conducted on Google over a given period of time - weekly, monthly, and annually. With some help from humans, and a pigeon or two when they have time, these statistics and trends make their way from the depths of Google’s hard drives to become the Google Zeitgeist report.
We should note that in compiling the Zeitgeist, no individual searcher’s information is available or accessible to us. What you see here is a cumulative snapshot of interesting queries people are asking – some over time, some within country domains, and some on Google.com – that perhaps reveal a bit of the human condition. We appreciate the contribution all Google users make to these fascinating bits of information.

I’ll report back on my traffic to this post.
Just found your site by accident doing a search for something completely unrelated. I very much like what i have seen so far! Added your RSS feed to my rss reader, looking forward to reading more. thanks
Interesting…But i haven’t actually found out how to get the demand for particular keywords or phrases within a specific country. E,g if i wanted to see how many searches for pet food recall in the UK, how do i do that? I would think that most stats are based on google.com , which is US based results. This could be biased. any idea on how to see stats based on countries? Cheers
You can get dif countries on the \’Zeitgeist Around the World (Monthly)\’ link if you havent already found it crane guy.
also i noticed recently that this worked totaly by accident for me, i had a recently popular keyword that started getting 5 times as much traffic even though it was new, wixch led me to this blog. i\’l be back for more. nice work
